I’ve spent over 20 years immersed in the craft and strategy of grantwriting—helping organizations win the funding that fuels change. Along the way, I’ve:
- Authored Grant Writing Revealed: 25 Experts Share Their Art, Science, and Secrets, based on interviews with leaders who collectively raised $1.7 billion through 24,000 proposals.
- Served as a Subject Matter Expert for the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI) in developing the Grant Professionals Certificate exam.
- Empowered hundreds of nonprofits raise millions in funding, with over 150 successful proposals and $100M raised for school districts, universities, and human service agencies across the U.S.
- Co-taught one of the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s most subscribed webinars of all time.
- Taught grant writing at New York University’s Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising.
- Spoken at national GPA (Grant Professionals Association) and AFP (Association of Fundraising
Professionals) conferences—earning top rankings for my sessions. - Served on the National Board of GPA, a local AFP board, and as a peer reviewer for state and federal funding panels.
- Graduated from Cornell University cum laude and conducted research as a Ford Foundation Clusters Scholar.
In short, I've dedicated my life to the social good and mastering the grant writing craft. So, I know that I can help you learn the skills that will serve you well for years to come.
And a bit about me when I'm not in the grant writing world
I hail from the land of Robin Hood and I now live by a waterfall in the Finger Lakes of NY and have fallen in love with the natural beauty of the landscape. I can most often be found in the woods, by a waterfall, on the dance floor, or coming down a ski slope.
I'm also gifted with intuitive insights and offer access to eternal wisdom through The Jana Channel.
I love to walk and had the incredible good fortune to walk the 500 mile Camino de Santiago with my daughter in 2017, the Grand Canyon with my son in 2013, and the Camino Portuguese and Camino Primitivo. I look forward to the next pilgrimage.
